Nat: Advice?

I have 3 questions that I would very much appreciate if you girls could answer. They're in regards to my new-ish story.

1.) What is something that a 19-year-old girl could do that would cause her to lose all of her friends?

2.) What kind of adventures could a group of 19-year-olds have on a roadtrip across the US?

3.) How do you guys come up with really unique names for stories? Stuff like Katniss (from Hunger Games) or Keys (from Ned's excerpt, which was amazing, and I'm planning on writing a review later), those kinds of nicknames or whatever, know what I mean?

Thanks in advance!

  1. 1) What couldn't she do? Maybe she slept with one of their significant others? Maybe something happened to her and she fell into a depression, or for what ever other reason was forced to cut off all contact with them, and they gave up on her? Maybe she got totally drunk one night, and told her friends what they really thought... none of them good? Maybe they did something, and blamed her? Maybe they were just crap friends? What kind of scenario are you looking for? Because I have a ton more (hopefully better) ideas where those came from.

    2) You may want to reference the old list... Granted, some may be too juvenile. They could get a flat tire in the middle of the woods, in the middle of nowhere, at night. They could stop a crime (or commit one), they could even be the victims of a crime, their car could be stolen (really anything could be), they could run out of money, they could get ridiculously lost... I wish I knew more about the story, haha.

    3) As for the unique names... Say, take the book 'Fire' in that, there is a character named 'Archer' which fits him really well. He's a fighter, and his name reflects that. Did you know the plant Katniss also goes by the name 'arrowhead?' Because that's part of what makes it fitting to her character. A gale is a strong, forceful wind, Gale is a strong, forceful character. A Primrose is a relatively delicate, and beautiful flower, and Prim is both of those things.

Who do you want to portray? Take an important part of their personality, and go from there.

I hope I helped at least a little bit.

  2. As for the roadtrip, one of those were planned last year and I'd go look in the archives.
As for names... I've come up with some really weird ones. Let them come naturally, not forces.
