Kas: Challenge Four.

Silas

His life had always had just one purpose… one mission.
It was his responsibility, his reason, his destiny.
But that was until he met her.
He knew, that his life had meant nothing before her,
And without her, he wouldn’t survive.
They grew closer, but he knew they still had a fight ahead of them.
He could sense the others getting closer and knew confrontation was close.
Then they arrived.
He convinced them he had not lost his way.
His mission would soon begin.
So they left.
But he didn’t know others had overheard.
They took him.
He fought them, but could not escape.
All the while her face swam before his eyes.
He felt her grow farther and farther away, until he could no longer feel her warmth.
That was when he began to darken.
They brought him deep within their dungeons.
Whips and knifes struck at his body,
But he was already in more pain than they could imagine.
He had lost her.
The weeks grew longer and she consumed his every thought,
Appeared in every dream,
Hauted his mind.
Eventually his body became numb,
From the pain, from everything.
They questioned him daily,
And they grew more frustrated with him every time.
But he could not give them what they wanted.
And then she was there, a mere ten feet away.
And the fire within him relighted.
He could feel her again,
Her warmth filled his body,
And he felt her love coursing through him,
But it wasn’t a love for him that consumed her.
It was for the one she came here with.
He looked into her and saw the other,
He saw every moment they had shared.
Another's body close to hers,
Another's eyes staring into hers,
He could see it all, everything.
Another's arms around her waist,
Her hand wrapped in the other's,
Another's lips grazing her for the first time,
The pain ripped through him harder than anything he had ever felt.
It almost made him fall.
She began towards him, but he stopped her.
They would destroy her like they had him.
Like she had.
The tears in her eyes spoke for her,
And he wanted so badly to hold her.
But he couldn’t.
They left him crumpled in his cell,
The cold walls seemed to close in on him,
Suffocating him.
She came to see him,
And he felt it wrong for a person as warm as she to be in such a cold place.
She tried to explain,
But he could see all that had happened.
She loved the other,
But he could also see that deep within her she still felt love for him.
And he became determined to bring her back to him.
No matter what it took…

His life had always been a secret.
His family staying hidden,
Away from prying eyes who asked too many dangerous questions.
They could not be discovered,
Without being destroyed.
His brothers were his best friends,
They had been with him through it all.
He never needed anything, or anyone, else.
Until her.
Her smile was welcoming, but her eyes were lonely.
He needed to know her, to understand her.
And as he became her friend, he saw her open up.
They were together always,
Her blue eyes full of something,
But he didn’t know what.
He grew closer to her than any other.
He loved her.
And then she discovered his secret.
The one thing they had tried so hard to protect.
They were not mortal.
He expected her to run away,
He was a monster.
But she didn’t.
She vowed to protect him, protect his family.
Because she loved him too.
But they were discovered,
And summoned, to the mainland.
To accept their fate.
But there, they found so much more…

Her life had always consisted of the same.
The same Country,
The same Home,
The same people.
She hated it.
Being mortal was a curse in her eyes,
Something she could never escape.
She was damned to live in the one place she truly couldn’t stand, for the rest of her life.
She hated it.
And then he came.
He saved her, more than once.
He was what she needed.
He was there for everything.
And she truly loved him.
There were signs,
Signs that he was different.
But she didn’t care.
And then she could no longer deny it,
They were here.
She listened to him speak with them,
Convince them he had not changed.
It all confused her,
And when she asked him, he would not tell.
She was afraid for him.
Then he was gone.
And she saw that he had told her was a lie.
She was hurt,
Crushed,
Barely able to breathe through his betrayal.
But she had to,
And so she did.
It got better,
And soon he was only a distant memory.
Then they arrived.
The boys.
She grew closer with them all,
But there was one inparticular.
Tyler.
She grew to love him,
And they spent every moment together.
Soon the other was completely absent from her mind.
And then she discovered them,
For what they truly were.
Malkini.
She let him explain,
And vowed to protect their secret.
But they were discovered,
And summoned to the mainland.
She was frightened,
But knew he would protect her.
But could she protect him?
She didn’t know the truth she was soon to discover.
