Sarah: Do you guys do this?

I sometimes have to write a brief history of my character or, if needed, a summary of what makes her special. Sometimes parts of it end up directly written into the story, but I keep most of it for my own reference and write the other stuff into the story as my character finds out about it.

Thousands of years ago, when the world was overrun with chaos, God sent the Archangel Michael to bless a special group of soldiers and their families, the Knights Templar, with the powers they would need to defeat the Cursed. Enhanced warriors with exceptional powers, they walk among us, unseen but ever-present, our all but invisible protectors. They humbly call themselves Wonders.

This is their story.

The Wonders accepted their fate of constantly being at war with the Dark World. For years they battled the Hellspawn, devious human-like creatures that have one desire: to corrupt human souls and drag them to Hell.

In 1349, during the height of the Black Death, God once again saw the Wonders struggling. His Blessed were being killed by a Hellspawn initiated plague that was tearing through half the world.

With a heavy heart and misty eyes, God watched as a young Wonder’s family was murdered by the plague and various attacks from the Hellspawn. She was fighting as hard as she could with her Blessed weapons, but they weren’t doing all they could.

Finally, God relented and sent Michael to the earth once more. The archangel found the girl on her knees in a cathedral, begging God for help. Michael didn’t speak to the girl, instead simply taking her swords and using divine words to bless them. They became the perfect weapons, able to smite any Hellspawn with a single blow.

Pleased with his angel’s work, God commanded that Michael continue to watch over the young girl, since she was now an orphan with nowhere to turn but the streets. And the years passed, slowly for the girl, and far too fast for her guardian.

Despite his perfection and his sworn allegiance to God, Michael began to feel. He felt the sun on his skin, the bitter cold of the winter, and, eventually, the gentle, loving touch of the girl. And one night, when feelings could no long be denied, both mortal and angel were one.

Overcome with the guilt of his mortal sin and convinced he was doing the right thing for the woman he loved, Michael left the girl for a great while. She grew resentful of her friend, her angel, and her lover. But when her stomach began to swell, she could no longer harbor her rage.

Upon Michael’s return, the girl told of her newfound joy. Shocked and awestruck, the angel vowed to keep his worldly sin and child a secret from his Father, who would surely be infuriated.
But nothing stays secret from God for very long.

Overcome with fury, God plucked the archangel from Earth and brought him back to Heaven, where he was given the worst punishment imaginable for a man in love: he would never be allowed to return to Earth again.

The Wonders, who had kept a close eye on the girl since her childhood, knew the child would be special, but also lethally dangerous. After the girl gave birth to her angel-human hybrid child, they decided the best option would be to keep the child away from human eye, for she was powerful, and power corrupts the mortal soul.

The child grew, eventually having her own child despite the Guardians efforts to keep her hidden. As each generation passed, each with a new version of the hybrid child, until eventually the child’s special powers seemed all but lost.

A very wise Guardian knew that they weren’t lost. He had studied every child to come from the original and read the ancient writings more times than imaginable. The Guardian came to one clear conclusion: that in a time of need, the child’s powers would come to the surface and it would save the world from a danger so sinister it could destroy the world.

The other Guardians, though wise, shrugged off the old goon’s worries, claiming the child had been a one-time fluke and its “disability” was long gone.

But the Guardian knew his predictions were correct about the child, for he harbored a secret: he was communing with Michael, who had been watching the child’s progress for many years. The archangel told him of a threat that was slowly gaining power, a threat that would tear the world apart at the seams.

Nevertheless, the child was raised as a Wonder, with the enhanced ability for single hand combat and weapon yielding, but no other specific talents. The Guardian kept his records anyway and passed them down when the time came, hoping that someday, when then world needed its hero, the child would rise to the challenge.

With careful patience and precision, the Wonders continued their never-ending battle with the Hellspawn, not even realizing the threat looming on the surface that had the potential to destroy them and the world.

And the Nephilim child was never heard or seen from again.

Until now.

So my question is, do you guys have to do this? Or am I ALL ALONE (hehehe)?
