Nat: How to save SAAWAKM?

Maiah:

I'm not sure how everyone else feels, but I know that I feel kind of the same way you do. It's hard with busy schedules and busy lives to keep up with posts and read/comment on stories, give advice, and write our own stories. We have a lot of stuff going on, and this blog is supposed to be a place to encourage each other and make new friends and write.

That's how it started out, but somehow along the way everything changed.

Now I'm not saying that I have a solution to this problem, because I don't yet. But I also strongly believe that quitting SAAWAKM isn't the solution, either.

Maybe we need to make posts less often. Or only help each other out when it's really needed. Maybe I need to stop making book covers and start actually writing some stuff. Whatever it is that we need, we have to figure it out before SAAWAKM falls to pieces.

We just need to work this out and come up with a way to solve this problem. We're stronger than this - we can make it through anything. I don't feel ready to give up SAAWAKM altogether, and I also don't feel ready to give up a single member of it.

So what do you guys say?

  1. I totally and completely agree with you. SAAWAKM has changed somewhere through all of this, and unless we do something to change and fix whats going on right now, it'll fall apart.
I don't think I'm gonna quit, because what will that really solve? And all that will do is make me more alone. So I think I'm gonna stay.
SAAWAKM's a lot different from the way it started and the way it is now. And it needs some changing.

  2. Maiah, how so? Is it because of all these new people joining, including me? :(

  3. I completely agree with you both. SAAWAKM used to be something completely about the writing, and now it almost seems like it's for socialising. I was actually really excited about being expected to write 500 words a day, because when I'm under pressure I get it done, and then everybody stopped so I did too.

Maiah, I'm glad you're not leaving(:

  4. No no no, it's not from the new members. It's just that...I guess we've gotten lazy. Hahaha. It's just a lot different from how it began. But its definitely not from all of the new members. Though getting a bunch of new people can be overwhelming, I don't think that's the problem.

And Nicole, same here. I don't write 500 words anymore, and probably most of us don't either. And I'm glad I'm staying too! Haha. (:

I think I have the solution then:

SAAWAKM can still be about socialising and making friends, I don't think we want to give that up. But the 500 words a day rule has to be reinstated, starting NOW. Maybe we can come up with a challenge or punishment or something that you have to do if you don't write 500 words a day???

And Merisa, it's definitely not from new members. Well I guess it kind of is, but only because you guys are so awesome and we'd rather get to know you than work on our stories lol. <3

  6. Oh, and another thing. The point of this blog was to blog about what we wrote that day, and what parts were easy and hard and what happens in what you wrote and all of that. And we definitely haven't been doing that. Like...at all. Hahaha.

So that's something I think we should start, instead of just making posts that aren't even related to writing. And also, that'll probably keep the 500 words a day more in check. Hopefully. Haha.

  7. I was just curious if it was about the new members joining that is distracting everyone from writing everyday. I think Heather mentioned writing 500 words, but I never actually did it because no one else did. I'm actually excited about doing that! Punishment? Like what? Hahaha(:

  8. Maybe not punishments as much as challenges - like having to write poems or comment on someone's story, something like that. Just an idea...
